Press release -

Sea and believe at Oi London 2020

There are many live on-water vessel and equipment demonstrations to look forward to at Oceanology International’s golden anniversary exhibition and conference in ExCel London

Almost 5,000 visitors have already signed up to toast half a century of ocean science and technology innovations at the golden anniversary Oceanology International London 2020 exhibition and conference (ExCel London, March 17-19) – and a key part of the proceedings will be the staging of live on-water product demonstrations.

Always a popular, well-attended and fundamental feature of Oi expos at the ExCel, these demonstrations in the adjoining Royal Victoria Dock act as sources of irrefutable proof – a failsafe way for companies to back up their corporate claims, build their brands and generate sales by displaying their products in action to a unique cross-sector concentration of potential customers.

As befits the generous scale of this extra-special 50th anniversary event, predicted to be the largest in Oi history, organisers Reed Exhibitions have arranged to allow twice the usual number of companies to host dockside equipment or vessel demonstrations. Show visitors have the option of watching these from a covered private meeting area or from elevated viewing platforms.

At the time of writing, several major firms have already confirmed that they will be holding product demonstrations on the water over all three days at Oi London 2020, including Teledyne Marine (Dockside Cabin 1, 9.30-10.15), which will be displaying items such as its Teledyne Oceanscience Z-Boat 1800, a compact and versatile remote survey vehicle, and the Slocum G3 Glider, a buoyancy-driven AUV.

Meanwhile, Maritime Robotics (Dockside Cabin 2, 10.00-10.45 and 14.00-14.45) will be demonstrating its Mariner and Otter USVs, respectively designed for offshore/coastal applications and seabed mapping/monitoring; while iXblue (Dockside Cabin 3, 10.15-10.45) will be putting its Drix surface drone, intended to remove the need to mobilise heavy resources for sea operations, through its paces.

Other companies hosting daily demonstrations in the Royal Victoria Dock will include Think Sensor (Dockside Cabin 1, 14.30-15.15), Kongsberg Mesotech (Dockside Cabin 2, 13.00-13.45), Seafloor Systems (Dockside Cabin 3, 11.15-13.15 and 15.15-15.45), Deep Trekker (Dockside Cabin 1, 15.45-16.30), Beringia Enterprises (Dockside Cabin 2, 11.00-11.45) and L3Harris Technologies (Dockside Cabin 3, 10.45-11.15 and 15.45-16.15).

Exhibitors and attendees always look forward to these live on-water demonstrations,” says David Ince, Events Director, Reed Exhibitions, “which in essence bring company brochures to life and allow onlookers to come away with a very clear impression of the vessels and instruments which have piqued their interest. This year’s programme of product demos is already brimming with first-class content: and when you factor in the increased exhibition floorspace and packed conference schedule, it’s clear that Oi London 2020 will set a new showcasing and networking standard for the global marine science community.”
