VETUS Maxwell is introducing its new fully-proportional BOW PRO Boosted thrusters to customers at Miami International Boat Show for the first time.
The latest evolution of the award-winning BOW PRO series, the innovative and powerful six-model BOW PRO Boosted 57-130 series of thrusters provide a significant technical advantage over existing thrusters.
Incorporating an in-house-engineered intelligent motor controller, the new VETUS Maxwell thrusters feature an internal charger that enables the thruster to boost output to up to double the voltage. When the thruster is not in use, the built-in charger automatically recharges the battery, doubling its value as both a thruster and charger.
As well as connecting to the internal charger, the VETUS motor controller also regulates the maintenance-free brushless induction motors, a technology break-through that ensures the BOW PRO Boosted thrusters are very quiet with a runtime only limited by the size of the battery pack installed. With almost no loss of power, active heat control and power consumption are very low.
Chris DeBoy, VETUS Maxwell Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said: “The new upgraded fully-proportional BOW PRO Boosted brushless models deliver all the remarkable features of the BOW PRO series with an added boost function to make life easier for even more boat owners.
“With efficiency so important for customers, the thrusters turn more energy into thrust compared to standard thrusters which means the batteries require less charging. The other significant feature is that our motors do not use any carbon brushes, so there is no carbon used in the product.
“Our newly-launched BOW PRO Boosted series has the capabilities to charge the thruster batteries when the thruster is not being used. This allows the installation to use less wiring as the wiring that powers the thruster is also used to charge the batteries. There is no need to add additional copper wiring from a separate charging source.”
The BOW PRO Boosted thruster can be connected to 12V or 24V power supplies, making it suitable for a range of boats up to about 80ft.
Providing finger-tip control, all models in the series combine VETUS’s highly-regarded electric thruster technology with its extremely quiet RimDrive, to provide near silent operation and precision proportional control.

See VETUS Maxwell at Booth E115 – E Tent, with on-the-water demos available at Pier 1, Slip 168
At Miami International Boat Show, VETUS Maxwell is introducing the rugged, highly-durable FTR33038M water strainer for below-waterline installations.
Designed to perform under pressure, the heavy-duty model has been developed by VETUS using a composite polymer blend, NAVIDURIN®, which is able to withstand high levels of heat and pressure.
Experts in efficient filtering of vessel cooling water, VETUS has incorporated a NAVIDURIN filter housing featuring 1.5in (38mm) hose connections in the FTR33038M, as well as a newly-designed metal lid on top of the housing. A transparent cover allows the filter to be quickly checked without dismantling. The filter element is made of polypropylene.
The FTR33038M water strainer is tested up to 116 PSI (8 bar) of pressure, making it ideal for use below the waterline. It is for recommended for inputs of 52.8 gal (200 litres) per minute and is perfectly suited for fast semi-planing and planing vessels.
Measuring just 5.8 x 6.4in (148 x 162mm), the FTR33038M’s compact size makes it easy to find a suitable space for installation.
