OI London: Oceanology International Issues Final Call for Speakers to Complete World-Class 2018 Conference Line-Up

- Deadline for submission of abstracts from industry leaders is Friday 15 September

- Oceanology International 2018 takes place 13-15 March, London, ExCeL

Oceanology International 2018, the world’s premier event for marine science and ocean technology, has issued a public call for abstracts by Friday 15 September 2017 for the opportunity of inclusion in its prestigious technical conference programme line-up of speakers.

Technologists, scientists, engineers and experts in their field are invited to submit a 300-word proposal on a variety of topical specialist subjects which reflect the conference’s series of 11 free-to-attend technical tracks chaired by a prominent list of industry leaders already confirmed for next year’s event from 13 to 15 March at ExCeL London.

Speakers selected to headline the 3-day conference will be able to showcase their knowledge amongst more than 7,500 marine professionals, government and academia from around the world and raise their company profile to an audience including a diverse range of end user technology buyers.

Reflecting the diverse spectrum of scientific and industrial stakeholders attending and to meet the changing needs of the community, Oceanology International is introducing new topics within its conference programme next year with: The addition of the Underwater Imaging and Metrology track; A stronger focus on sensor technology in the Ocean Observation and Sensing track; and a look at the technologies driving operational and cost efficiencies for the offshore oil and gas sector in the Oil & Gas track.

Papers are welcomed on a further new technical track, Ocean Information and Communications Technology, which will be a highlight of the 2018 conference programme in line with the inaugural Ocean ICT Expo, launched as a part of Oceanology International to meet the growing demand and interest in the cutting-edge of marine and ocean IT, communications, satellite and data solutions. Submissions in this area should focus on the technology required to acquire and safely transmit data offshore as well as analysis of managing, analysing and storing large data bases for both real time feedback into projects or for future use.

Papers will also be considered on returning topics including: Unmanned Vehicles and Vessels; Hydrography, Geophysics and Geotechnics; Navigation and Positioning; Ocean Observation & Sensing; Monitoring Structural Integrity; Marine Renewables; Aquaculture.

The content of the abstracts can range from explanations of new developments and applications to sharing user experiences. The chairmen will review all submissions during October before confirming the speakers and making keynote invitations, with the full programme details available in November.

Bringing together the latest technologies and thought leaders worldwide, the Oceanology International event offers the world’s leading forum where industry, academia and government share knowledge and connect with the marine science and ocean technology communities, helping organisations reach buyers from key market regions and sectors worldwide.

Next year’s 47th edition of the world-class Oceanology International exhibition and conference will build on the 2016 event which hosted 520 exhibitors, with a total attendance of almost 14,000 and 80 countries represented.

In addition to the Exhibition, Technical Programme and the Ocean ICT Expo, Oceanology International 2018 is exclusively home to the new Business Leaders Summit, which takes place on 13 March and the future-looking Catch the Next Wave conference on 15 March respectively. Held the day before Oceanology International in previous years, the Catch the Next Wave conference will be run in association with The Explorers Club and will focus on disruptive technologies enabling exploration.

The free-to-attend show floor Investment, Trade & Innovation theatre returns in 2018, providing information on routes to funding, international initiatives and cluster groups fostering marine technology transfer and growth, as well as technology developments from exhibitors, and talks from international and local trade bodies.

Vessels and dockside demonstrations of equipment will once again be a popular feature at the next Oceanology International.
