Ocean Signal: Ocean Signal Appoints Neil Jordan as Senior Project Manager

Communication and safety at sea specialist Ocean Signal has appointed Neil Jordan as Senior Project Manager.

Neil will work with the research and development, sales and business development teams based at Ocean Signal’s UK headquarters and marine communication facility in Margate, and will also support sister company ACR Electronics in the US, to further enhance product development in the leisure and commercial markets.

Bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the maritime and land electronic safety beacon industry, Neil has been recruited for a new project-based role at Ocean Signal focusing on areas including Cospas-Sarsat 406MHz beacons, AIS man overboard devices, VHF and satellite communications products.

Neil said: “I am very much looking forward to contributing to the continued development of the strong Ocean Signal brand and family of products developed for the global maritime and land markets. The rescueME and SafeSea product ranges have established Ocean Signal as a key market leader in beacon technology, innovative aesthetics design and, most importantly, saving lives.”

A contributor to national and international standards committees RTCM (Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services), ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and Cospas-Sarsat, Neil’s recent posts as R&D Manager and R&D Innovation Director involved bringing to market new 406MHz Personal Locator Beacons and AIS man overboard beacons.

Neil will work with a specialist engineering department at Ocean Signal led by director Simon Nolan. The team has developed a unique portfolio of innovative and award-winning safety devices, including the company’s compact rescueME range, such as the PLB1, MOB1 and EDF1, as well as other leading products for both the leisure and commercial sectors.

Alan Wrigley, Managing Director of Ocean Signal, said: “We are very proud that Ocean Signal’s success is strongly based on our exceptional research and development capabilities. We are therefore delighted to welcome Neil on board as we are confident that his considerable experience and knowledge will strengthen and enhance our expertise and enable us to continue developing innovative and market-leading products which will really make a difference to our customers.”

Ocean Signal recently launched the new M100 and M100X Maritime Survivor Locating Device (MSLD) and AIS Alarm Box, adding to the rescueME PLB1 personal locator beacon, MOB1 man overboard device, EPIRB1 and EDF1 electronic distress flare and its SafeSea range of GMDSS products, including the V100 hand-held radio, S100 SART and E100 EPIRB. Last year, Ocean Signal collaborated with AMI Marine to introduce the new float-free E101V EPIRB with integrated voyage data recorder (VDR) memory capsule.

Ocean Signal operates as a unit of Florida-based ACR Electronics, Inc., a global leader in safety and survival technologies. The Drew Marine companies combine two of the most highly experienced electronic engineering teams in the marine communication industry to offer a comprehensive portfolio of reliable and easy-to-use survival gear.
