NEW EVENT LAUNCHED FOR POOLE QUAY - Seafood & Sounds, September 16th and 17th 2023

NEW EVENT LAUNCHED FOR POOLE QUAY

Seafood & Sounds, September 16thand 17th 2023

Following the recent loss of two popular events, five Poole Quay businesses have collaborated to create a new free to attend event in September 2023.

The owners of City Cruises, The Customs House, The Poole Arms, Saint Tropez Restaurant and Truly Scrumptious sweet shop are working together to bring this new event to Poole Quay and the Lower High Street.

Seafood & Sounds will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2023 featuring local musicians from 12 noon until 4pm. Participating pubs and restaurants will feature special Seafood dishes throughout the weekend and offer their own live music during the evenings.

There are plans for a fish market and stalls within Hennings, and local fishermen and businesses have already expressed interest in being part of this additional attraction.

Owner of Truly Scrumptious and organiser of the Event Jeanette Walsh recently announced the weekend. ‘Events are an important part of the attraction of Poole Quay especially during the shoulder season of September. When we heard that key events were being cancelled, a group of businesses decided to join together and organise our own. We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and commitment to make a success of this inaugural event.’

BCP Council are now providing financial support previously earmarked for the recently cancelled Poole Goes Vintage. Jon Weaver, Head of Events, BCP Council commented,

“We recognise that it has been a challenging year for event organisers but there is still a comprehensive summer events programme on Poole Quay and we are looking forward to a new event being developed by the local businesses in September.”

Poole BID are also supporting the event with administrative support, a social media campaign as well as sponsorship funds. BID Lead Jacqui Rock commented, ‘Economic pressures are affecting all of us in one way or another and it’s how we respond that will always win the day in the end. The spirit shown by the businesses involved in this project is really second to none and is the hallmark of the community that we have here in Poole.’

.Seeing them working hard to make this a success whilst still running their own businesses truly is a credit to their tenacity and we are more than pleased to be able to support them in this way.’

Jeanette continues, ‘The traders along Poole Quay and the Lower High Street have always worked together, but funding cuts and wider financial business pressures 2023 has made us all determined to join together to create what we hope will be an annual community event.’

‘We’re delighted that both BCP and Poole BID are supporting this first event with financial contributions and administrative and advisory support.’

More event information will be issued in the coming weeks but businesses interested in being involved in the event should contact Jeanette Walsh on 07951 217268 or email jea@thepinksugarmouse.com
