Press release -

Greensea Systems Inc.’s Founder and CEO, Ben Kinnaman at Oceanology International, ExCel London, 15-17 March, 2022, Booth H551

Richmond, VT. Monday 14th March 2022 - Marine robotics technology specialist Greensea Systems Inc. provides software solutions that deliver a tough, portable, scalable, user-friendly and low-maintenance robotic system for offshore vehicles. Utilizing the most precise and advanced control and navigation technology available, the solutions have been revolutionizing the subsea industry since its inception in 2006.

The company is at Oceanology International showing its OPENSEA® open-architecture software platform, together with software plug-in solutions such as the EOD Workspace solution for explosive ordnance disposal teams, and the EOD Workspace Simulator.

Ben Kinnaman is the CEO and President of Greensea. With a B.S. in Physics and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in control and robotics, from Johns Hopkins University and stints as a salvage diver, an ROV / AUV technician and an engineer, Ben founded Greensea in 2006 to develop an open-architecture software platform, OPENSEA® with the aim of improving the relationship between man and machine.

Kinnaman outlines the company’s mission. “The capabilities of today’s robots are essentially defined by a combination of two elements – the manufactured and designed hardware for physical functionality, and the operational software system that delivers the control, navigation and autonomy of the unit.”

He continues, “We collaborate with industry leading ROV, AUV and UUV designers such as VideoRay, Klein Marine Systems and Ocean Power Technologies to supply our open architecture software platform, OPENSEA on their vehicles. The very nature of an open architecture platform ensures product longevity through the ability to add, upgrade and swap software components to provide flexibility and adaptability within every environment.”

“As we look to the future, it will be open-architecture software that will drive capability and growth. While sensors and vehicles could be perceived to be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the end-product, it is the open-architecture software of the platform that is the ‘brains’ and ‘intelligence’ that ultimately delivers the service.”

Through Ben’s vision, Greensea is pursuing future-proof solutions today which can subsequently be scaled to tackle tomorrow’s problems within the subsea sector.
