Advanced Certifications for Propspeed Management Increases Technical Expertise

Matt Forbes and Rusty Morgan complete Coatings Inspector Program and Forbes attains Professional Qualification in Marine Corrosion

Auckland, New Zealand – Leading innovator of underwater foul-release coatings Propspeed, has announced today that two senior sales team members have qualified for the NACE Coatings Inspector Program, Level 1 (CIP1) to extend their capabilities of providing high levels of technical expertise to customers and the marine industry.

Matt Forbes, Sales Director, EMEA and Rusty Morgan, Vice President of Sales and Operations, Americas, received the qualification from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), which sets the global standard for inspectors in the protective coatings industry.

Matt Forbes, who also passed seven modules to attain Professional Qualification in Marine Corrosion by the International Institute of Marine Surveying, said: “These courses enhance the ability to communicate with marine professionals at a very technical level, as well as being able to be more effective when delivering the Propspeed training program.

“In addition, the focus on corrosion is very relevant as it gives an appreciation for what may be affecting materials in the marine environment and what can be done to mitigate these factors.”

“NACE certification has been instrumental in helping us to understand the level of specification required to provide the accurate application detail necessary to satisfy commercial requirements,” said Rusty Morgan. “Our sales team is very active and hands-on, so it’s a core part of our business to make sure they have the skills and tools needed to address any technical issues and supply detailed information, so our customers can have the confidence that the job is done right.”

NACE Coating Inspection certifications have set the standards for inspectors in the protective coatings industry for over 30 years. The organisation provides certifications that help promote public safety and protect the environment while reducing the environmental economic impact of corrosion.

Organisations recognise and specify the NACE Coating Inspector Program, due to its comprehensive, hands-on practical testing methods which validate an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience, and elevate the skills of those in the industry. The program is designed to provide a greater knowledge of protective coatings for any number of assets such as pipelines, storage tanks, key infrastructure and more.

“Advanced technical training and continued professional development is a key component in our ability to better serve our customers around the world,” said Chris Baird, CEO, Propspeed. “Our customers rely on our knowledge of our products and how they can best be used to solve their specific problems. We are proud of the work that Matt and Rusty have done to accomplish this certification and are positive that they will be an invaluable resource.”

Propspeed’s ultra-slick topcoat is specially formulated to prevent marine growth from bonding to metal surfaces below the waterline. It is proven to increase boat efficiency, protect against corrosion and electrolysis, reduce drag, save fuel and maintenance costs. It features an exceptionally strong chemical and mechanical bond between the metal substrate, the Etching Primer, and the Clear Coat – ensuring that the Propspeed coating actually sticks to running gear, and any other underwater metals, and performs season after season.

Propspeed products include Propspeed for running gear and any underwater metals, Foulfree for transducers and Lightspeed for underwater lighting. For more information on Propspeed or its premium coatings, please visit www.propspeed.com.

About Propspeed

Propspeed is dedicated to protecting the performance of underwater assets such as propellers, shafts, rudders, all underwater metals, transducers and lighting without doing harm to humans or the marine environment. Over the past 21 years the company has developed three coatings for specific applications. Applying Propspeed, Foulfree or Lightspeed to their dedicated substrates creates a biocide free surface that is exceptionally difficult for marine organisms to attach to. Improving performance, lowering fuel and operational costs, and keeping lighting clear and transducers working effectively throughout the season. Superbly effective on underwater metal parts, no other system can match the proven success record on either leisure or commercial vessels. Propspeed is based in New Zealand, the home of sailing, with worldwide distribution and service.
