ACR Electronics Distress Tracking ELT 5000 Receives FAA TSO Approval for a Second Commercial Aircraft Manufacturer and Adds a Fifth Aircraft Platform
Fort Lauderdale, FL – 06 February 2025– ACR Electronics is excited to announce that its ARTEX ELT 5000™ (Emergency Locator Transmitter with Distress Tracking) has received FAA TSO C126c certification for installation into the leading manufacturer of transport aircraft in South America.
The ACR ELT 5000 has reached a key milestone with receiving its second FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval in as many months. This recent certification, after the previous approval from the largest US commercial aircraft manufacturer, now enables ACR to provide GADSS systems to two of the three leading manufacturers in the commercial aircraft industry.
The ARTEX ELT 5000 has been designed to comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) recommendations, European Union regulations, and other global civil aviation mandates.
Under ICAO’s GADSS initiative, all commercial aircraft delivered from January 2025 must be equipped to autonomously report its location during distress conditions anywhere in the world.
Engineered to not only meet but exceed these imperative requirements, the ELT 5000 redefines standards for emergency location transmitters by delivering real-time location updates and autonomous distress tracking while the aircraft is still in flight.
Upon detecting a distress condition, the ELT 5000 automatically activates, transmitting the aircraft’s precise location coordinates, which are autonomously acquired through GNSS technology, to the Cospas-Sarsat system.
With seamless integration with the Cospas-Sarsat network, the device ensures global satellite monitoring and enables rapid responses from search and rescue authorities, resulting in more effective rescue operations and significantly reduced search time in emergency scenarios.
The ELT 5000 also offers the unique capability to cancel alerts if the original distress condition is resolved, preventing the deployment of unnecessary resources.
The ARTEX ELT 5000 is the only GADSS-compliant solution currently available on the market for US-Manufactured transport aircraft throughout 2025. It provides full compliance with the ICAO's latest safety mandates, enhancing global aviation safety while offering peace of mind to those onboard.
